Car seats safety check
More than half the children's car seats examined in safety tests in the Bath area were incorrectly fitted.
Council officials, who carried out checks on cars at two supermarkets, found that 68 out of 118 – 58 per cent – could fail in the event of an accident.

The checks were carried out by Bath and North East Somerset Council at Sainsbury's in Odd Down and Tesco at Paulton.
The failure rate is worse than that for a similar exercise carried out last year, when 42 per cent were incorrectly fitted.

A B&NES spokesman said: "The council was delighted with the turnout from local parents and carers wanting to take the precaution of checking their child car safety seat and obtaining advice that could potentially save the life of their young son or daughter."
