The daughter of a freelance photographer who died from a stroke is launching a fundraising campaign to help other sufferers in the South West.

Fay Tresilian, who lived in Marshfield, died last year aged 65, and now her daughter Arabella is using her experience to help other people in the same position.

She is raising money to bring the InterAct Reading Service to the region, starting with one-to-one readings to stroke patients in the rehabilitation ward of Southmead Hospital in Bristol. The service provides a professional, live, interactive reading service for stroke patients in hospitals and clubs.

At the moment it is not available in the South West, but £40,000 could set up a three-year service.

The service aims to alleviate the boredom, depression, lack of self worth and negativity associated with stroke. Arabella is holding a fundraising evening on Tuesday September 7 at The Mansion House, Clifton Down, Bristol. Tickets are £35 with wine and light buffet included.

Singers from Royal Northern College of Music will be providing the entertainment. For tickets, email arabella.tresilian@gmail.com.
