Camerton & Peasedown Croquet Club launches beginners course ahead of 2013 season
Drainage experts have been called in to Camerton & Peasedown Croquet Club don’t lose as many days to rain during the months ahead.
The newly-formed club’s four lawns were often underwater during their inaugural season, forcing the postponement of numerous matches and taster days to attract new members.
But organisers hope the problem has now been solved and that members will be able to build on the success they enjoyed during 2012.
They enjoyed team success in a regional competition, while five members – including four beginners – won through to national finals, with one finishing a fantastic runner-up.

“With our fantastic four-lawn facility that overlooks the Somerset countryside, we are now in a position to attract more people to try out this marvellous game,” she said.
“It is a game that you can play both socially and competitively – a game that includes skills and tactics.”
A five-week beginners course is running between 2pm and 4.30pm every Sunday from April 7, with all equipment supplied – just bring flat-soled shoes. It costs £20, half of which will be refunded on joining the club.
