Calling all who served in RAF
I am writing in the hope that you can pass on some information to
Chronicle
readers and help me progress a project which I believe will prove a lasting and important record of those who have served in the RAF in the past.
My project,
www.ex-rafrecordbook.co.uk
started life at a very local level in Nottinghamshire but is now rapidly spreading across the country.
I would like, through the
Chronicle
, to appeal to all ex-RAF personnel to have a look at the website and then send me their details for inclusion.
The reason I started this project was because, as a former RAF man myself (1946-1952) I thought it was a great shame that those who had served their country in the RAF have no visual record of their service for others to see. So, asking all sorts of favours to help get me into the internet age, I tentatively launched
www.ex-rafrecordbook.co.uk.
I have already had a fantastic response from the East Midlands, but would now like to widen my search for contributors.
I believe the site is a unique and fitting tribute to those who have served in the RAF and a really helpful resource for those undertaking historical research.
I would like to add that this is definitely not just for RAF personnel who served in the war – this is for all men and women who have served in the RAF from 1914 to the present day.
Please take a minute to look at the website and make contact with me on 01623 860519 if you would like to be included.
