The City of Bath Male Choir could be reunited with two fellow TV show contenders in the next few months.

The group will perform at yet another sell-out concert on Monday, February 23 at the Wiltshire Music Centre in Bradford on Avon.

But the choir, who reached the final five of BBC1's TV talent contest Last Choir Standing in August, will also be performing with semi-finalists the ACM Gospel Choir in July.

Since the show, the 90-strong group has been in demand all over the country and founder Grenville Jones has hopes of a tour this year.

Mr Jones said a weekend concert tour to Belfast was a possibility – to be reunited with the Open Arts Community Choir, fellow participants in the programme.

He said: "We have visited Holland and Germany in the last two years and had a fantastic time.

"I am looking at a number of options at the moment.

"We made some great friendships through Last Choir Standing, one being the Belfast choir, and they are keen for us to go over and do a concert in Belfast.

"We also have had interest from the States, so one way or another I hope we will manage to fit a tour in this year."

Tickets are selling fast for the visit of the ACM Gospel Choir, who will be guests at the male group's concert at The Forum on Saturday, July 11.

Meanwhile, a Bath sixth-former has won a place in a prestigious national youth choir.

David Jones, 18, a student at Prior Park College, successfully auditioned for the National Youth Choir of Great Britain.

David, who has performed in numerous college productions, said he was thrilled to have been selected and was particularly looking forward to an upcoming choir tour to Los Angeles.

The school's director of music, Roland Robertson, wished him well for his future with the choir.

He said: "High tenors are a rare and precious resource for any choir and I am not surprised that the audition panel recognised the natural quality and promise of David's voice.

"However, his recent success is an endorsement of the time and commitment he has put into his singing over the years.

"We wish him an exciting and rewarding career with the choir and look forward to watching his progress."
