Bus service to seaside is saved
An independent bus company has stepped in to save a popular service that runs from Bath to the seaside town of Weston-super-Mare.
North Somerset Coaches will continue to run the Wednesday bus through Peasedown St John, Midsomer Norton, Radstock and the Chew Valley when Bath and North East Somerset Council funding stops at Easter.
The 791 bus will run as normal up to April 3, leaving Bath Bus Station every Wednesday at 9.20am and coming home from Weston-super-Mare at 5pm, but from April 8 this is replaced by the new 191 bus at similar times but following a simplified and quicker route.
During the summer this will leave Weston earlier at 4.45pm to avoid traffic congestion in Banwell.

The company has been running the route on a sub-contract basis since last June and did not want to abandon the popular route.
Proprietor David Fricker asked for customers' support.
He said: "There is now a huge risk for us in carrying on without the safety net of council funding.
"We are relying on people making regular use of the service to ensure it remains viable, so we can carry on running it."
Fares will have to be increased from the previously subsidised rates.
