Councillor Tim Ball (Lib-Dem, Twerton), Cabinet Member for Homes and Planning, said: "Bath & North East Somerset Council wants to hear about extensions, complete houses and commercial buildings that people feel are worthy of a design award – due to the materials used, the suitability for purpose, or any special reason. Due to the special nature of the area we would also like nominations in relation to work on listed buildings. These awards are aimed to recognise first-rate design and construction and to help to continue and encourage the tradition of the high quality of the district's building."
The awards are sponsored by The Bath Stone Group producers and manufacturers of their award winning Bath Stone. Elaine Marson, chairman of BSG commented: "We are once again proud to be supporting these prestigious awards, and to see high quality in building design and construction being encouraged and rewarded."
Awards are presented in two categories – Building Quality and Design Quality – for domestic extensions, new dwellings, commercial/public buildings and works to historic/listed buildings.
If you have a nomination please contact Philip Mansfield, Building Control Manager at the Council. Closing date for nominations is 1st November. Tel: 01225 477541 email: firstname.lastname@example.org
The design awards are judged by an independent panel of architects and the award ceremony will be held at the Guildhall, Bath next February.
