Blatant hypocrisy

I was amazed to see Geoff Ward's letter last week on the core strategy and political point-scoring.

How interesting that the Conservatives are so pious about finger pointing when it's their failures on show, but have no problem pointing the finger (in the same letter) at the Lib Dems.

Come on Cllr Ward, this kind of blatant hypocrisy and bickering is what turns people off politics. We can work together to get this core strategy through, but if you want to play the blame game, people know it's the Conservatives who took a vote without understanding it properly. People know its the Conservatives who have put the Greenbelt at risk.

“A swearing grandmother in Chew Valley. I really like the sound of her.

Unfortunately for her the usual sighting of me in that neck of the woods is when I dash through on my way to catch a flying machine to dispatch me to one of my many overseas Independencies.

Anyway Emily you would obviously make an excellent politician, unlike me, in that you have already perfected the art of not answering a single thing.”

“My grandmother, who lives in Chew Valley, swears she saw you out there with the Lib Dems. I will tell her she was mistaken :)”

“You clearly don't get it do you? You don't seem to understand how local politics works?.......

You could have a point but for the following :-

    Bath City Conservative Council Group..............4
    B&NES Labour Council Group.........................5
    B&NES Independent Council Group..................5

As for your other irreverent comment re Chew Valley, I was at least expecting a grown up response to my list and how Brook will address such issues thus convincing the good folk of Widcombe that he has his finger and mind on the pulse. After all that would be debate for you and your uni colleagues.

In actual fact, reading through your postings on this thread I can't actually identify a single positive proposal worthy of discussion other than "you don't appear to understand" or "I don't think you will have much chance" or "I can't answer that one"

Now in my seventy first year, so hurry up!”

“Can you also confirm that you were out campaigning for the Lib Dems in the recent Chew Valley by-election, but you did not campaign for the independent candidate?

If you had helped the independent candidate there, you may have got them more votes than the Lib Dem candidate.”

Such an arrogant and patronising attitude does not go down well with Bath residents, and thankfully, they will all see it on here :) Well done :)”

“That's a really sound reason to vote for someone Emily!

So what are Brooks ideas for home provision, river regeneration, alternative energy, handling & treatment of Waste in 2020, public transport, public realm, employment creation, pollution control, east of Bath park & ride facility. His solutions for working within a reducing council budget, Neighbourhood Plans and Orders policy, solving an unsound Core Strategy, provision of a Contingency Land Bank. Then of course he must have sensible ideas for improving and maintaining the City as a tourist attraction, working with both Bath Rugby and Soccer clubs to ensure their long term futures. I could of course suggest he puts forward his creative vision for how he can assist the River Regeneration Trust to ensure the Avon Corridor becomes once again a jewel in the City's crown. Maybe he has a solution to fund each and every public toilet, ensure the Bath in Bloom is adequately funded, child and vulnerable people care is catered for.

Never mind Emily, these are just minor issues. So much more important that he helped your mum & dad.”

“Nope, I will be voting for Brook. He has helped out my parents on a couple of local issues, and I hope he wins.”

“So emily, Clegg has upset you by breaking his Uni tuition fee promise, therefore you won't be voting LibDem.

By the way, Cameron in his last election manifesto promised a yes/no referendum on the EU, which was basically a lie until UKIP had a go. Then of course there was good old Blair telling us there were thousands of WMD's about to descend upon us in 45 minutes.

You and your Uni friends do have a terrible dilemma. Best vote Independent!”

“I don't know all the in's and out's of the housing debate so I can't answer that one.

As for the tuition fee pledge by Nick Clegg which was then dropped, that was really dishonest.

None of my uni friends will ever be voting Lib dem again - we've been really let down.”

“Emily dear I think you deserve an observation from an Independently minded very old but experienced codger such as I.

I was at the closed Group meeting where a few of us (then Tories) were informed that our contributions to the debate on Hicks Gate were not welcomed, as the main aim of the game was to defeat the newly appointed LibDem council. The three of us were like mushrooms, and I don't need to explain that analogy do I?

We Independents fully understand the land at Hicks Gate is greenbelt as probably was most of the land Georgian Bath was built on, and come to that, bristol, London, Birmingham etc. etc.

So where do you and the lateral thinking Brook suggest we build all these homes that dear old Eric Pickles, Grant Schapps when Housing Minister, and David Cameron so desperately insist upon?

As for your accusation of a U Turn on tuition fees, you have lost even me there. Can you provide detailed information on how you arrive at this claim?”
