Blackadder's old sidekick and Time Team star Tony Robinson goes back in time again for pupils

Blackadder and Time Team star Tony Robinson has visited a Bath school to talk to pupils about his latest series of books.

The best-selling author, actor and presenter was at Kingswood Prep School as part of a tour to promote his new Weird World of Wonders series.

He spoke to youngsters from Year 2 to 6 about the books, which are designed to take readers on an educational trip through history to learn about civilisations, including the Ancient Romans and Greeks.

English co-ordinator Mishka Diaz thanked Tony for taking the time to meet the children and said they had been thoroughly entertained by his presentation.

She said: "He was wonderful with the children, both engaging and humorous in equal measure. During the talk, he had children and staff acting out some of the more gory aspects of history.

"We were all totally enthralled for the full 45 minutes that he spoke. It was a memorable experience."

Year 5 pupil Will added: "Some parts of history are boring, but with his methods he made them seem really exciting.

"His books have inspired me to write about history more often. I had never watched Blackadder before, but now I want to watch more of Baldrick."

    “Robinson, a staunch socialist and a onetime member of the UK Labour party's National Executive Committee decides to push his books at at fee paying school. I am sure if I google enough I can find him pontificating againsts private eduction, but to be honest I can't be ****d.”
