Bids in for landmarks
Two Bath landmarks will soon be under new ownership.
The Cleveland Pools site at Hampton Row and the Cornmarket in Walcot Street were put on the market by Bath and North East Somerset Council in August. The deadline for offers on both properties was Tuesday.
The Cleveland Pools Trust has put forward a bid for the lido with support from the Prince's Regeneration Trust and Bath businessman Trevor Osborne.
He said: "We have made a proposal but don't see this as a competitive process. We want to do anything we can to help preserve the only Georgian lido in the country.
"The decision is entirely up to B&NES but I would think two charitable trusts and a commercial firm that specialises in regenerating historic buildings must be an attractive option."
The Walcot Street Trust, which was keen on preserving the 19th-century Cornmarket, has not put in a bid. Offers were invited in the region of £500,000 but the trust says it was not in a financial position to continue with its campaign to turn it into an arts centre.
Trust chairman Mike Fairbeard said: "The trust is keen to see the best possible use of the building."
The council said it was considering the offers.

“Best of luck then Cleveland Pools Trust. The council doesn't have to take the highest bid, but the best one to secure the future of a historic building.”
