'Best season yet' to kick off
Stronger links with Bath City and the University of Bath means the 2012-13 Curo Youth Football League 'promises to be the best yet'.
That is the view of the competition's sponsors, formerly known as Somer, who are keen to see more youngsters from the area get involved.
Curo community initiatives officer Jo Bellotti said: "We're proud to have supported this league for the last three years. We set it up to offer all young people the opportunity to participate in a sport at no cost to themselves."
The new season was launched at Mayday Trust Park on Saturday, during half-time of City's match against Boreham Wood, where Bellotti and B&NES chairman Cllr Rob Appleyard also presented prizes to last season's winners.

Southside All Stars beat the JSP A Team to top spot in the 11-14 age group, while Walcot PYP overcame Brad Weeks in a 15-19 final which was refereed by City captain and long-term league supporter Jim Rollo.
Victorious Walcot skipper Khaled Harwood said: "We have really enjoyed taking part in the five-a-side league and being able to represent our respective communities.
"Thanks to the sponsors – Bath City Football Club Community Sports Foundation and Curo – for supporting the league, with a shout out to the youth workers at Percy Community Centre and Southside Youth Hub."
City players will be on hand at times during the forthcoming season to assist with training and nutrition advice, while the University of Bath will be providing female coaches – something which has helped attract girls into the game.
Anyone interested in joining the league, either as an individual or a team, can find out more from Jo Bellotti on 01225 366145 or jo.bellotti@curo-group.co.uk.
