"I want to raise as much money for Macmillan as possible. They are so supportive and have helped a few of my friends."
This year will be the first time that Mr Hale has run a full marathon, and he will be taking part in the London race on April 21 – his 53rd birthday.
He said training was going well: "I have been out and about most nights, and I try to run 10k each time.
"I am running up a lot of hills, and at weekends try to do a longer run."
Mr Hale also stages bucket collections in Green Park Station every Sunday.
