University of Bath student Louise Hunt retained both her singles and doubles titles at the Cardiff Wheelchair Tennis Tournament at the weekend.

Hunt, who made her Paralympic Games debut for Great Britain at London2012, has now won two singles titles and six doubles titles this year.

The British number three won her third straight women’s singles title in Cardiff after beating Sussex’s Lauren Jones in the final for the second successive year, winning eight of the last nine games for a 7-5, 6-1 victory.

Hunt and Jones, both part of the Tennis Foundation's Wheelchair Tennis Performance Programme, then retained the women’s doubles title, beating Beaumont and Charlotte Moore 6-1, 6-0 in the semi-finals and negotiating a tough final against local South Wales player Debbie Brazier and Fisher 6-3, 6-3.

“It’s been a memorable year, especially after making my Paralympic Games debut in London and Cardiff holds very special memories for me as it’s the tournament where I won my first women’s singles in Britain in a world ranking tournament, so I’m very pleased to have retained both titles once again,” she said.

“I’m now looking forward to next week’s Nottingham Indoor, the last of the British world ranking tournaments this season."
