Empty Bath shop transformed into temporary art gallery

An empty shoe shop has been given a chance to shine as a temporary art gallery.

The old Barratts store in Stall Street is now the Bath Prize Centre, showcasing more than 150 pieces of art which have been entered in an annual competition.

Co-operation between The Bath Gallery, the Trevor Osborne Charitable Trust and Bath and North East Somerset Council has turned what was in danger of becoming an unused eyesore into the venue, where the work of 25 artists is on display, and on sale.

The centre is displaying paintings by previous winners and judges of the Bath Prize, which is now in its fourth year.

The centre will also display this year's entries for the competition, with winning paintings on show from September 21.
