Featuring pictures from the museum’s Sport and Fashion display and the Jubilee: Dressing the Monarchy on Stage and Screen exhibition, a review on the website highlights the fact that around 100,000 visitors each year enjoy its guided tours and interactive displays. It also commends the fact that children and adults can dress up as Victorian characters.
B&NES Council cabinet member for sustainable development Councillor Cherry Beath (Lib Dem, Combe Down) said: “It’s fantastic to see our Fashion Museum flying the flag for the UK alongside other great attractions from around the world. Bath and North East Somerset Council is committed to ensuring that everyone has the opportunity to enjoy a wide variety of culture – and that includes fashion and style.”
She said the current Sport and Fashion exhibition – which traces how historic sportswear has influenced the creations of contemporary designers – was proving extremely popular.
“It is well worth a look before it closes in early January 2013.”
The CNN accolade for the museum follows the inclusion of the council’s Roman Baths complex in a list of the top 20 most-loved museums in the country by Which? Travel.

“Strangely enough, after the last war, that very nearly happened if some Bath people had had their way. BTW the way - is an Imagrant what a Heritage Lottery Fund Award says when it's handed over to the recipient? Just wondered.”

“BaNES should close this place as part of their cash saving drive and then rent the building out to a landlord that could then turn it in to flats for the steady flow of imagrants. No problem in collecting the rents because WE all will be paying them via the government taxes!”
