Entries are flowing in for a photographic competition which aims to reflect the way in which Bath combines the best of the old and the new.

A prize of £500 is up for grabs in the contest run by The Bath Chronicle with the BMI Bath Clinic to mark the private hospital's 30th anniversary.

The hospital is celebrating three decades of providing health care to its community, and wants the contest to celebrate the harmony of history and cutting-edge thinking in the city.

To mark the milestone, we are asking you to enter your photographs in the Chronicle-backed Bath in a Snapshot competition.

Your photograph could bring cheer to the hospital's patients as the top 30 will go on display at the hospital at Claverton Down.

The first prize is £500 and a day with a Chronicle photographer. The runner-up will receive £250, with the third placed shot winning £100.

The winning photographs will bring together Bath's traditional beauty and heritage with 2012 highlights – be it the Jubilee, the Olympics or simply an iconic modern landmark.

Entries received so far show the bright Christmas market carousel next to the Roman Baths, the city's architecture reflected in a car, a modern powerboat and someone taking a phone picture of the abbey.

Chronicle head of photography Kevin Bates has also taken some pictures of his own to point people in the right direction.

All entries will appear in the Chronicle on Thursday, January 10 and put to a public vote.

The top 30 finalists will be invited to an unveiling ceremony at the hospital in January, where the top three will be announced.

To enter, send your photo with your name, age, occupation, address, postcode and contact number to promotions@bath chron.co.uk, or upload it at www.bathinasnapshot.moonfruit.com.
