Bath owners score home success
Autumn seems to be arriving and most of the serious flat races have been run but there's still plenty of equine action, with Bath having its share last Sunday, writes Philip Horton.
The seven races at Lansdown included wins for five favourites so punters should have gone home happier than bookies.

Anyone backing Neil Callan would have had a terrific day as he rode a treble on Golden Destiny, Callisto Moon and Seasonal Cross, all saddled by different trainers.
Not one of the flashiest jockeys on the circuit, Callan has nevertheless notched up 100 winners so far this season. That's 30 more than Frankie Dettori but still 44 less than Ryan Moore, who is romping away in the Champion Jockey stakes.
Longest priced winner on the day was David Evans' Green Lagonda at 11/1. The trainer is having a good season and has luck at Bath, so even at that price someone fancied the gelding as he was backed down from 14/1.
Godolphin trainer Saeed Bin Suroor's runners usually win at Lansdown as well and his classy colt Bab Al Salam was no exception.
Although this United Aftermarket Handicap was a £14,000 added race, one is still somewhat surprised to see Godolphin chasing winners at minor tracks but would be even more surprised, not to say amazed, if the owners ever turned up here.
The speedy Yurituni stepped up a place on last Thursday's runner's-up spot at Doncaster when landing the Melksham Motor Spares Fillies' Nursery Handicap, winning the race for Bath owners Margaret Findlay and her son Harry.
This Monday afternoon sees the penultimate meeting at Lansdown.
