Mums have been going back to school as part of Mother's Day events across the city.

Pupils at Moorlands Federation and Paragon Pre-Prep invited their female relatives and friends into school to find out more about their learning.

The Mother's Monday initiatives saw people drop in throughout the day, to either listen to classes or join in at lunch or break time.

A spokeswoman for Moorlands said: "It's always been a great success and thoroughly enjoyed by the children and the adults alike.

"It has so many positives for the children when the adults are involved in their learning this way and is great for the school community."

More than 75 mums visited Paragon Pre-Prep and took part in a range of activities, including dance classes, painting in the art room, a French lesson and creating African jewellery.

Charlotte Thursz, from the school, said: "The parents had a lovely time and the children took enormous pride in sharing their school with their mums for the morning."

Meanwhile mums were able to have their photographs taken in SouthGate on Sunday as part of a Chronicle promotion.

The Cosy Chair, which was donated by the Cosy Club, was set up in the shopping area and passers-by were invited to pose for Mother's Day.

They were also able to pick up a goody bag for £1, which included a Chronicle, a County magazine, perfume samples and a heart balloon.
