Mums in Bath looking to go back into employment but wanting to maintain a work-life balance are being given the chance to do both.

Mother-of-two Naomi Summers, 33, has just launched her own business called Get-Organized, which is offering other local firms freelance administrative cover.

Mrs Summer, who until the summer was a production co-ordinator at the BBC, said: "The idea came to me while I was on maternity leave with my second child.

"I loved my job but needed something which allowed more flexibility and was a little closer to home. Friends of mine had set up their own business in Moorland Road a couple of years ago and I was surprised and inspired by the fantastic, supportive network of small businesses they discovered in and around the Bath area."

Get-Organized offers project work, research, travel and meeting organisation, audio typing and secretarial work on a daily, half day or hourly rate. The company is able to work on site or remotely.

She added: "I felt we needed to be as flexible as possible in this climate where small businesses are struggling. There aren't always the finances available to employ administrators on a permanent basis but the administrative work is still piling up."

The Get-Organized core team currently consists of Mrs Summers and fellow mums Amy Freeman and Rebecca Hill, both from Corsham, who are supported by a bank of skilled women keen to get back into work.

Mrs Summers said: "We have this fabulous melting-pot of incredibly intelligent and highly skilled women who may have felt that since having children they are no longer able to or want to work ten-hour days, five or six days a week, but still have the desire to really get their teeth into some projects and use their expertise.

"I just feel so proud to be able to create something which provides work for people in these very tough times we're going through, and at the same time provide a much-needed service to these great Bath businesses."
