Bath lacks focal point
I think its about time that opponents of Bath Rugby at the Rec came into the real world. I am bored stiff with reading the wingeing by correspondents to your paper saying the rugby club has no right to remain where it is. Let's face facts.
A. Bruce Craig has all the financial might to get his way with the trustees, the planning committee and the Charity Commission. We all know that money talks, so get on with it.
B. A new stadium will be a fantastic asset to the city even though it will be used on 15 days a year. It would look fantastic all along the river separating the Rec from the city and also from the surrounding hills providing an architectural focal point of great interest that Bath currently lacks.
C. The planning department will bend to the will of the councillors and English Heritage and Bath Preservation Trust will sit as always on their hands.

D. The council will approve anything, just as they did with the bus station, Western Riverside and the Holburne.
E. The new stadium will attract more people into the city to make it a vibrant place to be on match days.
I admit to being an avid rugby supporter with just one abiding interest in that of watching first class rugby. I am not interested in the so called negative impacts any stadium will have on the city, I just want to be able to watch rugby at the Rec in the comfort of a covered stadium with all the modern facilities. I am prepared to bet that all other fans think the same. So come on Bruce, let's see some action.
