“Yes of course you are correct, drivers should drive according to road conditions and traffic situations. Unfortunately the dangerous road conditions were created due to the Councils lack of action even after many many complaints and calls regarding the situation not just from myself. Please don't forget that this situation is not due to the high volume of rain we have recently experienced as this swathe of water has been on-going for many many months giving the Council ample opportunity to rectify the situation back in Autumn when better weather prevailed. Bad planning and drainage is also not only a problem at the accident area but further on the A431 towards Bath as you exit Kelston the road side has been lowered for access to a steep track. Lowered kerb on a steep hill = higher water flow = more drainage necessary.
Let's hope we see some action from the Council before the next cold snap.”

“Yes of course you are correct, but isn't it time that all motorists took responsibility for their own actions and drove their cars according to the conditions?”

“Now this is no surprise.
Over the last 6 weeks I have informed the Council on 4 occasions of the large swathe of water flowing across the A431 between Kelston and Swineford and the potential of it freezing in the oncoming cold weather. They have had ample opportunity to carry out remedial work of kerbing and drainage and were offered a clear window when the A431 was closed for the best part of a week during recent flooding at Swineford.
I hope that there were no serious injuries to any parties involved in this morning's incident .May I suggest they get a good Solicitor and get them to talk to the Council. It is the Councils duty to keep the roads in a safe state of repair and fit for use.
Still, don't the Christmas lights look lovely!!!!!”
