Children will be taught how to safeguard the country's hedgehog population in a new scheme.
The School Hedgehog Project is being run by Avon Wildlife Trust in Bristol, Bath and Weston-super- Mare.

Funded by Western Power Distribution, the scheme has visited St Michael's Junior School at Twerton, Camerton Primary School, Twerton Infant School, and Bathford Primary School.
Children have been finding out about the creatures through interactive sessions and fun talks by the trust's learning team, as well as stories and games, and getting to meet a live hedgehog.

Hedgehogs are hugely popular animals, immortalised by Beatrix Potter in The Tale of Mrs Tiggy-Winkle, but their numbers have declined over the past 60 years.
Much of the decline is down to human activity, such as use of lawnmowers, bonfires and slug pellets.
Trust learning development officer Julie Doherty said: "Hedgehogs are fascinating creatures and children love to find out more about them."
