Bath breakdown heroes on the road to RAC's Patrol Ambassador of the Year Award
A pair of Bath breakdown heroes have been shortlisted for a national award.
Philip Evans and Kevin Andrews have been nominated for the RAC’s Patrol Ambassador of the Year Award.

The Bath pair are up against 50 other breakdown teams from across the country for the award, which recognises commitment to the job and a high level of customer service.
Mr Andrews, 42 and from Marshfield, has been nominated for this award eight times, and won the accolade in 2011.

Earlier this year he hit our screens as part of the Channel Five documentary Winter Road Rescue, where he was seen helping drivers stranded at Lansdown Park and Ride during the snow in January.
He said: “They were filming with me for four or five days but they only used about five minutes of film. I actually got stuck in Bath on that Tuesday night when it snowed. If a car is stuck we will help, if we can. That was actually at the end of a shift so I stayed and helped a few more people.”
He added: “This award is a big thank you. It’s nice to get the recognition for the hard work we put in.”
Mr Evans, 37 and from Corsham, has been with the RAC for six years, and this is the fourth year he has been nominated for the award.
He said: “Kevin and I work off each other, and try to out do each other. We are very competitive, which works well for the people of Bath
“It’s all about hard work and commitment. You don’t get to these awards by doing the usual 40-hour week.”
The men will attend an awards ceremony in Chester this Saturday to find out if they have won.

“I recently needed the assistance of one of these guys as I had slid off a icy snowy road and had my front wheel hanging over a 15 feet drop. I was scared stiff and and i was rescued by one of the most professional and courteous people I have ever met. Without hesitation he dragged my car to safety before checking it over and making sure I was happy to continue my journey home. I think the comment "ordinary job in an average way." is very inaccurate and a extremely harsh.

“I am rather confused by this story. I cannot find and mention of when the men risked their own lives to help others. After all, this is what the headline implies by calling them heroes. The word is totally abused these days, being used to describe people doing their ordinary jobs in an average way.”
