Bath Judo Club Squad's dominant debutant downs rivals
Eleven young fighters from the Bath Judo Club Squad attended the Bushido National Championships at High Wycombe and returned with five gold medals, two silvers and a bronze.
Ethan Hawtin was first up, winning all of his fights apart from the final one – losing it on a split decision – to take the silver medal in the under-30kg class.

Club-mate Ben Shardlow completely dominated the under-35kg group on his first outing for Bath and won the gold medal.
The under-40kg class saw four Bath members, Matthew Pierce, Matthew Hooper, Jonny Phillips and Rory Padkin, in the same group. Phillips and the two Matthews won two contests each but Padkin showed excellent competitive skills in all of his to strike gold.

Oliver Jenkins marked his second outing for the club with a bronze medal in the under-45kg group, losing by the smallest of decisions to the eventual winner.
Timothy Clark produced some sparkling throws to win the under-50kg division and had the spectators in awe at the speed of his work.
Harry Baird's excellent display earned him silver in the under-55kg group, while the under-60kg category saw an outright win by Elliott Hawtin. He won his first two contests in six seconds before easing to victory in the others.
Jamie Padkin, another of the club's top fighters, won the under-65kg group with a series of quick-fire successes.
Bath judo club has classes to suit adults and children of all abilities, from the complete beginner to the advanced player, and specialises in self-defence lessons for its members.
