My Bath: Eat, drink and be merry . . . my perfect day
Bath Racecourse general manager Jo Hall answers the questions in our My Bath feature
1. What's your favourite part of Bath?
I have lots of fond memories of driving in from Bristol for a day out to 'Bath Park' (Royal Victoria Park) with family and friends when I was young. Those are my earliest memories of Bath and it always makes me smile when I drive past.
2. Where's the best place to eat?

I had an amazing meal with my husband for our first wedding anniversary at the Hudson Steakhouse a few months ago. We'd never been before and I can honestly say it was the best steak I've ever eaten. Good quality food, lovely atmosphere and not at all pretentious. I've recommended it to people ever since.
3. What's the best view in the city?
The view of Bath from the rooftop pool of the Thermae Bath Spa is pretty amazing. And, while the views are more of Bristol than Bath, the view from Prospect Stile here at the corner of the racecourse is also spectacular – you can see for miles and miles.
4. What would your perfect day in Bath entail?
A few hours of shopping followed by a leisurely lunch in one of Bath's eateries, or perhaps a picnic in Parade Gardens. Then perhaps off to the Thermae spa for a few hours of relaxation followed by a quick change, ready to head for some early evening drinks, then dinner and dancing.
5. Where would you meet friends for a drink?
Whenever the racecourse team head into town for drinks, Sub13 always tends to be the first place we go. It always has a good atmosphere and they do a great cocktail selection. Further afield, the Hare and Hounds is just a few minutes' drive from the racecourse and has recently been refurbished – they have a stunning outdoor deck which is perfect for drinks on a summer evening, with stunning views over the countryside.
6. What's your favourite shop?
I could spend hours in Kitchens cookshop, it's a treasure trove. I love baking and so I could easily spend an afternoon in there pottering around looking at cake tins, baking gadgets and decorations.
7. What one thing about Bath would you change?
The one-way system/bus lane combo near The Podium – I always seem to forget and end up driving in circles trying to get back to Lansdown.
