Bath DIY shop boss set to retire
The owner of a Bath hardware shop who is retiring at the end of the month has thanked his customers for their loyalty.
Barry Wright, of Wright’s Hardware in Mount Road, Southdown, took over the shop in 1987 following the death of his wife Christine.

The 68-year-old, who had previously been working as a plumbing and heating engineer, has stayed at the shop since.
The father of four and grandfather of five said he had no fixed plans for his retirement as yet, or for what he would do with the property.

He thanked his customers and said he had enjoyed his time working at the hardware store over the past 25 years.
He said: “I have enjoyed the customers and it has been great here. I have just come to the end of my working life.”
He added: “I would like to thank all of my customers for their loyal support over the years.”
The shop had been run by his late wife for two years before her death.

“I think it's only twice that I've asked Barry for something and he didn't have it - his shop was truly one of a dying breed of "Aladdin's Caves", and will be missed in the Mount Road area. Enjoy your retirement Barry!”
