Couples are being invited to publicly show their love for one another by being photographed on the Chronicle’s Love Seat.

The fun and flirty Valentine’s Day promotion is being held in SouthGate shopping centre on February 9 and should see hundreds of lovebirds being featured in The Bath Chronicle and on the thisisbath website.

Passers-by and shoppers will be encouraged to cuddle up with their loved one on the sofa, have their picture taken and then be included in a supplement in the following Thursday’s newspaper.

Editor Lynne Fernquest said the idea was to spread some romance over the city in the build-up to February 14.

She said: “Bath is certainly one of the most beautiful cities in the UK and we thought that this was a great opportunity for readers of The Bath Chronicle and thisisbath.co.uk to show just what a romantic lot they are.

“We all know that a hug from a loved one can brighten even the gloomiest day and we are delighted to help spread that love.”

To have their photograph taken people will need to either pay £2 for a copy of the Chronicle and a goody bag, or, if they can prove they have already bought a newspaper, they will only pay £1.

For this small cost they will have their picture featured in the supplement on Valentine’s Day and will also be emailed a copy of the photograph.

Photographers will be in SouthGate, outside lingerie shop Boux Avenue, between 11am and 4pm on Saturday, February 9.

The pictures will be featured in the February 14 issue of the Chronicle, when readers will also have the opportunity to win an ultimate romantic Valentine’s Day prize, which includes a meal for two at Jamie’s Italian, theatre tickets, an overnight stay in a top hotel and much more.
