Bath’s Fashion Museum in the World’s top 10
The Fashion Museum, Bath, run by Bath & North East Somerset Council, has been named one of the top 10 fashion museums in the world by international broadcaster CNN.
Bath's Fashion Museum is the only UK attraction to make it into the exclusive list, which includes fashion collections on display in Paris, New York, Florence and Kobe, Japan.
The list of the best fashion museums worldwide, which can be found on the CNN website, highlights how their changing exhibitions and permanent collections can help visitors to explore cultural links and discover how the history of fashion relates to the latest up-and-coming top trends.
Featuring pictures from the recent "Sport and Fashion" displays and "Jubilee: Dressing the Monarchy on Stage and Screen" exhibition, the CNN review highlights how around 100,000 visitors each year enjoy the Fashion Museum's guided tours and interactive displays. It also commends the fact that children and adults can dress up as Victorian characters.

Councillor Cherry Beath (Lib-Dem, Combe Down), Cabinet Member for Sustainable Development, said: "It's fantastic to see our Fashion Museum flying the flag for the UK alongside other great attractions from around the world. Bath & North East Somerset Council is committed to ensuring that everyone has the opportunity to enjoy a wide variety of culture – and that includes fashion and style.
"The Fashion Museum's current 'Sport and Fashion' exhibition – which traces how historic sportswear has influenced the creations of contemporary designers – is proving extremely popular and is well worth a look before it closes in early January 2013."
The CNN accolade for the Fashion Museum follows the announcement by November's "Which? Travel" report which ranked the Bath & North East Somerset Council-run Roman Baths amongst the top twenty most-loved museums in the UK.
The Fashion Museum is open daily in Bath's Assembly Rooms from 10.30am to 4pm (exit 5pm). For more information visit www.fashionmuseum.co.uk or call 01225 477789.
