Balloon adventure over for pilot David Hempleman-Adams
Explorer David Hempleman-Adams is out of the Gordon Bennett Gas Balloon Race.
Mr Hempleman-Adams and co-pilot Simon Carey, from Box, near Bath, took off from Switzerland on Saturday.
They landed in northern Spain yesterday morning, having travelled 528 miles.
The contest’s sole aim is to travel as far as possible. As of last night, other balloons had travelled more than 800 miles. Mr Hempleman-Adams won the race in 2008.
