BBC One Show stars Matt Baker and Alex Jones to turn on Bath Christmas lights
TV presenters Matt Baker and Alex Jones will be switching on the city’s Christmas lights next month.
The pair, who host The One Show, will do the honours during a live broadcast of the programme which starts at 7pm on Tuesday, November 13.
The double act’s visit to the city will be part of this year’s One Show Rickshaw Challenge in aid of Children in Need.
A team of young rickshaw riders, led by Matt, will be passing through Bath on their journey from Llandudno to Television Centre in London – a total of 411 miles.

The switch-on ceremony – which has been moved from its traditional Thursday slot – is coordinated by the Bath Business Improvement District (BID) with support from Bath and North East Somerset Council and The Bath Chronicle.
Last year comedian John Cleese switched on the lights at the bottom of Milsom Street and in previous years the illuminations have been turned on by the Duchess of Cornwall and Hollywood actor Nicolas Cage.
Bath BID manager Andrew Cooper said: “We are thrilled to be working with The One Show and BBC Children in Need and are confident that the people of Bath will share the excitement and give generously to this important cause.”
He added: “Switching on the lights marks the start of the Christmas shopping season which is very important to the city’s economy.
“People come to Bath to shop because of the beautiful Christmas Market as well as the great range of shops, from all the major high street brands to small independent boutiques so you can find something for everyone and have a lovely day out in a World Heritage city in the process.”
Last year Matt raised £1.9 million through an eight- day Rickshaw Challenge which was featured every night on The One Show and finished during the programme’s Children in Need special.
This year Team Rickshaw will be made up of six youngsters, all of whom have benefited from Children in Need-funded projects. They will be accompanied by the presenter who will cycle alongside the rickshaw offering advice.
