Between them they created stretched musical form, tonality and performers' technique to the very limits.
They challenged the accepted conventions of compositional technique and re-wrote the rules for composers in the century that followed.
Their music was also naturally considered by audiences to be 'difficult' and in the composers' lifetimes was met with both thunderous applause and violent abuse.
Peter Donohoe is one of the foremost pianists of our time, with a distinguished international career as a soloist, chamber musician and recording artists.
Loré Lixenberg is a performer with extensive experience in musical theatre and is renowned for her spectacular expressiveness.
Tickets costing £15, can be booked by calling 01225 463362.
There will be a free pre-concert talk with Peter Donohoe and Loré Lixenberg in conversation, with performances by Bath Spa Music students of works from Fin de Siècle Vienna, at 6pm.
