BATH HALF MARATHON: Holly Rush taking the long route on race day
Taking on 13 miles will be more than enough for the majority of Bath Half Marathon entrants on Sunday – but not Holly Rush.
The British international is building up her stamina ahead of a 54-mile ultra-marathon in South Africa this summer, so will run from her home in Bradford on Avon to the Great Pulteney Street start line this weekend.

Team Bath's Holly Rush will run from Bradford on Avon to Great Pulteney Street on Sunday
“I think it is will be around nine miles from my home to Bath so I’ll probably be hanging on for dear life during the race!” said the Team Bath ace.
“My back seized up after winning the Naunton 18.3-multi-terrain race in January, so I had to miss three weeks of training and am in a big block of miles at the moment.

“I only decided to run Bath in the last week or so and as I am only just back into my training, I’m not sure what I will do. It will be very interesting.”
It is fair to say that Rush has had a love-hate relationship with the race in recent years. She clocked a then personal best of 74mins 26secs when coming fourth in 2008 but failed to finish in 2011.
However, the pressure is off this year, with the Comrades marathon – arguably the most important ultra-distance road race in the world and one that attracts a staggering 20,000 runners – uppermost in her thoughts.
“I really want to run well in the Comrades and would love to finish in the top five or even the top three,” she added.
