Avonvale RFC under-15s too good for North Bristol
AVONVALE The under-15s made the most of a day for running rugby to defeat North Bristol 17-5 in a game that was tighter than the scoreline suggests.
Vale relished the early contact and repeatedly overpowered a North Bristol forward line that looked to contain play. A delicate chip into the corner then gave Jordan the chance to score the game's first try.
Ben added the second after a trademark crash run before Nathan's conversion made it 12-0. North Bristol fought back with a late score but pick-and- drive specialist Tom touched down from close range to give Vale the final word.
Vale under-12s made the most of playing down the slope against a combined Melksham and Devizes size, scoring several early tries to set up a 35-5 success.

Every member of the team enjoyed good moments but Oisin was awarded the man of the match prize for his ripping skills.
Finleigh made a number of powerful runs, Harry showed his clever footwork and Chris scored twice.
Newcomer Harvey played at hooker and also made it over the line, with Alex fitting into the second row nicely.
The under-10s won both their matches against Melksham but were made to work hard for victory on each occasion.
Harry popped up from a maul to score the opening try of the first game, which ended 4-0. Two of the team's Bens joined him on the scoresheet either side of a try from Thomas.
Another Ben broke the deadlock in the second game with the only try of a first half that saw both sides defend well.
Vale rotated their squad for the second half but played even better, with Jaime touching down twice and Dominic, Todd and Tom adding the others. Myles showed his ability with ball in hand at centre.
The under-9s also scored a double against Melksham, winning two tough games 6-5 and 7-6.
The matches were highly competitive, with both sets of players showing great attacking and defensive skills.
Callum scored hat-tricks in both games, with the other scores coming from Ollie, Leo, Ben, Oliver and Laurie.
Man of the match Ben put in a great performance, while all of his team-mates deserve praise for their commitment.
Vale's under-7s and 8s showed plenty of determination despite losing all of their matches to a well-organised Melksham outfit.
Jamie helped himself to eight tries for the under-8s.
