“Viscount V: The nationality of the bride was included in the previous story because it seemed relevant in a report re the Border Agency, although I agree this is a moot point.
On the subject of headlines, their entire raison d'etre is that they grab the attention. We did tone down the one you mention after concern that it did not accurately reflect the spirit of the council team's approach.

“They would've added the value of nearby houses though Moe, I fully expect this "news" paper to follow suit in the not too distant. Disgusted!”

“Indeed. It is quite frightening how the baying mob immediately castigated this woman simply because of her nationality. No trial, no facts, just a disgusting open display of self-righteous satisfaction that a foreigner's wedding had been ruined.
You can imagine the Daily Mail headlines if this had been the most important day in a wealthy middle-class English woman's life...”

“My suspicion is someone either mistakenly or maliciously caused this deeply upsetting incident on this lady's wedding day by being a public spirited busy body. I may of course be wrong but I do wonder why the Chronicle saw fit to publish the woman's nationality in the first place.
If Daily Mail audience grabbing headlines are to be par for the course in our local paper these days, such as, "troubled kids to be 'dragged' out of bed and walked to school" (later changed to "got out" of bed) then I doubt I shall be buying it any more.... We didn't get this carp under Sam!”

“So I wonder who will pay the cost of re-running the wedding service, reception etc again at a later date???”
