Owners of a lorry repair yard are hoping to prove it is authorised to operate so it can be sold.

The current owners of the Red Lion Quarry, off Frome Road, Bath, have applied to Bath and North East Somerset Council for a certificate of lawfulness to formalise the site's use as a repair and maintenance yard for lorries, coaches and vans.

The application has been made by current owner David Weston, a year after former tenants Somerset Trucks went into liquidation.

Stone extraction stopped at the quarry in the 1950s and in 1960 some of the site was bought by Phillip and Victor Weston, Mr Weston's father and uncle, who ran a construction and resurfacing firm, Weston Bros.

Nash Partnership, acting as agents for Mr Weston, have said there was strong evidence that the yard had been used for a repair business since the 1970s and should be allowed to be put up for sale as B1 industrial use.
