Young patients at the Royal United Hospital are being encouraged to try some- thing different with a new animation project.

Animate Me! is a project run by Bath-based Suited and Booted Studios, in conjunction with the RUH and its arts programme, Art at the Heart.

Funded by Bath and North East Somerset Council, the project allows animators to work alongside patients on the children's ward.

Animate Me! aims to encourage children to try something new, and to take their minds off being in hospital.

Animator Elle Farnham said: "The beauty of animation is the ability to play, you can make anything come alive which is very exciting and magical.

"The young people I have worked with have even made characters out of bottles and packets of biscuits.

"The project allows all the young people to have some fun, and is an opportunity to try something knew which many have not done before."

“'Art at the Heart' is a wonderful scheme at the RUH and provides interest for everyone, patients and visitors alike - there is always an exhibition of some sort in the hospital corridors providing welcome distraction from an otherwise distressing hospital visit. Thanks to all concerned with this scheme - may it continue for a long time to come!”
