Plant pots had been turned upside down, the backs of sofas kicked in and attempts were made to set fire to one of the umbrellas.

Owner Andrew Peters said: “It was very upsetting to see, as we have put a lot of time, effort and money into making this a nice place.

“This is not just mindless vandalism, someone has put thought and effort into destroying the terrace.

“I would like to thank the members of the public who stopped by to express their outrage and support and even more gratitude to those who rolled up their sleeves and helped us clear up.

“It is really heartening to know that people do appreciate what we are doing to improve the environment of Green Park Station and make the outside of the brasserie as welcoming as the inside.”

“Who with any sense would leave the furniture out, its a public free living room for anyone around, not hygienic either for daytime customers.”

“How disgusting! Hope that the low life who did this are proud of themselves!!! If they are ever caught, they should be made to pay for the clean up and replacement of furniture, plants etc. etc.I agree with andywaters9 that these people have no respect for others property.

Just because this is a busy human traffic route is no excuse for this mindless vandalism.”

“Such a shame that people cannot respect other people's property.
This is an independent business that will no doubt not be able to claim any insurance help due to high insurance excess amounts and risk of increased premiums so will have to fork out to put right the damage.”

“Drunk students most likely...they tend to have no concept of being respectful or neighbourly or being aware of the possesions of others”

“Unfortunately that's a busy human traffic route until the early hours of the morning and there's often a lot of noise and drunkeness as the clubs kick out.

You've also got the skaters using the area in the evening, plus street drinkers using the indoor part of the station more often in recent months. Of the three groups, think it's more likely to be the early hours drunks than other suspects.

As for CCTV, Sainsburys should have CCTV near their cash machines. Bit far away but worth a try.”
