TENNIS Two new singles stars were crowned when the 2012 Lansdown Tennis Club Championships took place on Saturday.

Alex Hudson overcame Oscar Wain 4-6, 6-3, 6-3 in a high-quality men's final, while 17-year-old Georgie Pool defeated past champion Carol Smith 7-6, 6-4 to take the ladies' crown.

Pool and Smith later teamed up to take the ladies' doubles title, beating the University of Bath's Steffi Colyer and Laura Smith 6-3, 6-3.

Hudson also claimed a second trophy by partnering Pete Hoyland to victory in a close men's doubles final against Wain and Stuart Smith.

The latter also missed out in the mixed doubles final with Hannah Sage, going down 1-6, 6-1, 6-2 to Colyer and Rob McCardle.

Presentations were made by club president Jeremy Goulding and all the finalists will enjoy complimentary meals at Brasserie Blanc, who sponsored the tournament.
