A363 hit by flooding at Bathford; SouthGate car park shut again
The main road between Bath and Bradford on Avon was all but impassable this lunchtime due to flooding.
FirstBus services were turning around at the end of the Batheaston Bypass as the A363 beneath the railway bridge at Bathford turned into a lake.

The A431 through Swineford remained closed today, with bus services 319 and 332 also being diverted via the A4 through Keynsham.
River levels fell in Bath yesterday but B&NES Council warned of the risk of fresh flooding as water made its way downstream from Wiltshire.

The county was at the centre of a major emergency operation today, with flooding in Malmesbury particularly problematic. The B3109 road through South Wraxall is also flooded.
The car park at the SouthGate centre reopened today but has since been shut again.

“We tried to walk around Box this morning, but were frustrated three times by floods. Ended up at the cafe in Box, very good indeed, good value and great music on CD by John Lee Hooker. Will return soon.”

“True Stigand.....The village matchbox is damp, therefore all burning of witches in the Wicker Village has been suspended until Bill staggers out of The British Legion with his zippo.
As the Bybrook is about to flood too those wishing to flee the village via Kingsdown and the Box Road best get a shimmy on.”

“It is to be hoped that the good people of Bathford no longer revert to type. Last time they were cut off, I heard that a couple of witches were burnt and they sent an emissary to invite King Steven back to oust Empress Maude.”

“Sealed off from the rest of the world. Bathford stands alone and noble in it's isolation. The pub is still open so they have fresh blood trapped within the village boundaries to keep them company.
There was a van stuck in the water for a while, I must say when a river's crossing over the top of the bridge it was a foolhardy gamble. The village Landrover rescue team towed it out so the driver made it to the pub in the end.”
