From 24-hour cycling challenge to the Bath Half Marathon for Vibe Fitness team
After taking part in a gruelling 24-hour exercise event to raise money for charity, most of us would welcome the chance to put our feet up.
But after cycling 1,000km in 24 hours at the weekend a team from Vibe Fitness in Widcombe are now gearing up for their next challenge – running the Bath Half Marathon on Sunday.
The 24-hour exercise bike marathon saw a team of ten taking to the saddle raising money for The Micro and Anophthalmic Children’s Society, which supports youngsters born without eyes or with underdeveloped eyes.
The exercise bike fundraiser was the brainchild of Vibe Fitness’s owners Simon Ridley and Paul Ransome to mark the delivery the gym’s new Watt bikes which are used for training by Sir Bradley Wiggins.

Mr Ridley said: “We got to the 14th hour of darkness in the early hours of the morning and we thought to ourselves we’re going to struggle to do this.
“We phoned around and have had people dropping in and doing stints for us which has allowed us a longer recovery time.”
The team did intensive bursts on the bikes, followed by longer periods of rest to recover.
Mr Ridley added: “We have gone through every emotion from the team not really talking, zoning out and then to encouraging each other.”
The ten cyclists were Simon, Paul, Joey Rossi, Lizzie Wraith, Sophie Gover, Eddie Atkins, Mark Pope, Johan Grobler, James Evans and Spencer Goyne.
Mr Rossi is also running for MACS in the London Marathon, with the Bath team’s efforts raising hundreds of pounds for the charity.
